Cases of gender-based violence involving female politicians are steadily going on the rise, with the accusing finger pointing to their male counterparts at the National Assembly.
What is even more disappointing is the fact that the perpetrators of the offences get away unpunished, with the courts granting lenient bail terms.
Some of the female legislators who have since been assaulted include;
1. Fatuma Gedi
The Wajir Woman Representative is the latest victim of gender-based violence involving Rashid Amin. Gedi is said to have been assaulted within the Parliament buildings.
She was later taken to the Karen Hospital for first aid and subsequent treatment.
2. Rachel Shebesh
The former Nairobi Women representative Rachel Shebesh was reportedly slapped by the then Nairobi governor Evans Kidero after stormed into his office at City Hall, where a heated verbal war of words ensued before it quickly escalated into a physical fight.
3. Millie Odhiambo
At one time, Millie Odhiambo engaged in a fight with the Gatundu MP Moses Kuria during the passing and adoption of the Security Laws Bill five years ago.
