Adelaide Khalwale, the wife to former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale will be buried on Saturday at their Malinya home according to the funeral programme.

Mrs Khalwale died on Saturday after suffering from pulmonary hypertension, a condition she suffered from two days to her demise.

In his speech on Saturday, the former Ikolomani MP said that his wife had suffered from cancer twice but doctors were able to treat her.

"I wish to announce to members of my extended family that my wife Adelaide is dead. She was first diagnosed with cervix cancer in 2003 but ironically, this morning, she had died not from cancer

"She was out on chemotherapy and she recovered. She again this year developed blood cancer and it was treated and we confirmed this week. She developed pulmonary hypertension and she's succumbed to it," he said.

In a programme posted by Khalwale on Facebook, there will be a mass at Masinde Muliro Gardens in Kakamega on Thursday and subsequent public viewing of the body.

After that, the body will be taken to Malinya home for overnight vigil. On Friday, there will be another public viewing of the body at Malinya home.

The former staff member of the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology will be laid to rest on Saturday in a public function to be held at Malinya stadium.

"Despite crossing over, Raila has no issues with Dr Khalwale and they relate well. He will attend the burial and there is no doubt about that," a source at Raila's Capitol Hill office said in confidence.

After supporting Raila in 2017 polls, Khalwale crossed over early this year and has been working closely with Dr Ruto. He is keen to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in 2022.

Dr Ruto is expected to lead the Jubilee troops in the burial which could be eclipsed by 2022 succession politics both at national and county level.
