Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Friday evening sent a strict warning to a faction he referred to as cartels that being out of office did not mean that he would allow them to harass Nairobi residents.
Sonko who is just a few days out on an Sh30 million bond related to charges of misappropriation of county funds, alleged cartels are using all means to steal public resources as well as forcefully acquire land from the Nairobians through fraudulent court orders.
In a statement on Facebook, Sonko has aggressively expressed his anger pointing at one of the affected Nairobi resident Mary Ocholla.
"We shall NOT allow cartels to harass Nairobi Residents and property owners like Widow Mary Ocholla using fraudulent court orders. Let the OCS Buruburu Police Station, who is supposed to enforce the illegal court order obtained by LANDMARK, take notice that the land NAIROBI/BLOCK 73/863 belongs to widow MARY OCHOLLA and GLAD TIDINGS LTD and the tenant's CITY CHURCH, KINDER START ACADEMY and SAFARICOM LTD are their only tenants. LANDMARK PROPERTIES INTERNATIONAL LTD has no claim on that land whatsoever and cannot purport to obtain a court order against another person's land and require police to enforce it," the governor said.
Sonko also went through a series of events on Facebook about how they had managed to reclaim the land belonging to Widow Mary Ocholla and Glad Tiding crusade.
Adding that cartels have no room to expand their businesses in Nairobi, he said that his officials have kept an eye to ensure they repossess back lands which have been unlawfully acquired from the Nairobians.
"Let me put these cartels on notice because I am told that immediately I was put in even the land grabber of the South C Akiba Estate Playground is trying to excavate the remaining land day and night. We are as vigilant as ever and shall NOT let you take what belongs to Nairobi Residents and we shall continue to repossess and return the public property that has been stolen back to wananchi by all means," reads Sonko's post in part.
Sonko who has in many instances claimed that the city has a network of cartels frustrating his efforts to redeem it even once called on President Uhuru to support him in the war against them.
In the recent turn of events where he was taken behind bars for misappropriation of funds, Sonko insinuated that his predicaments are an indication that cartels fight back.
