The Jubilee party members spearheaded by Kirinyaga County Jubilee Vice-Chairman James Muriithi on Saturday came out in defence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

They cautioned Alice Wahome against making similar remarks in the future.

According to the leaders, it is inappropriate for a Member of Parliament to insult the president.

“An elected MP should not insult the president, tell him what development projects you want…not insults…democracy means freedom,” Muriithi stated as quoted by Citizen Digital.

The Jubilee party members further commended President Uhuru for the good work he has done in promoting peace.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome has been on the spot since Friday when she accused President Uhuru of being a threat to the country's economy and democracy.

“The biggest existential threat to Kenya’s declining economy, democracy and freedom of expression, political affiliation and growth is Uhuru Kenyatta, because he is on the driver’s seat,” Wahome said during a press conference on Thursday, as quoted by Standard.

A number of the top politicians and leaders in the country have reacted to the remarks with some criticizing her for her approach to the matter.
