Mr Magaya, who was the chief coordinator of Raila Odinga campaigns in 2017, was admitted at Nairobi Hospital over a month ago.

Early this month, ODM leader Raila Odinga visited the National Films and Classification Board member at the facility.

"H.E. Raila Odinga visits Norman Magaya at Nairobi Hospital’s HDU and wishes him well and quick recovery," ODM party reported.

During the hotly contested 2017 polls, Mr Magaya was among radical youthful leaders who pushed for swearing-in of Mr Odinga as 'People's president'.

On his Twitter account, he said: "Slow but steady recovery from a dreadful heart attack. I remain grateful to the Almighty for the gift of life."

In 2018, Mr Magaya was among people proposed by NASA for East African Legislative Assembly duties. However, with his strong criticism against Jubilee, his name was short down by a Jubilee-controlled house.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro blamed Luhya community legislators for Magaya's loss, accusing them of failing to give him support when he wanted it the most.

“Even Luhya MPs had a problem. We saw that. If he had got their support, ODM would already have won twice,” said an MP.
