It is no longer a secret that all is not well for Deputy President William Ruto as far as Mount Kenya region is concerned.
Political heavyweights opposed to his 2022 presidential bid are slowly erecting barriers to block his bid of succeeding Uhuru as his term nears expiry.
Even as the rebellion from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region soars, the concern is steadily rising as to whether Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho is the force working against DP Ruto in the region.
On Saturday, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro alleged that the state had silently hatched a plot involving a section of Kikuyu elders, to peddle propaganda against Ruto. The vocal MP further mentioned that PS Kibicho was the man behind the whole scheme.
“Principal Secretary at the Interior Dr Karanja Kibicho is the person being used to establish unnecessary road blocks against Ruto. The vote head should be scrapped, as there is evidence it was being misused politically,” said Nyoro.
Barely a month ago, media reports indicated that DP Ruto engaged PS Kibicho in an angry confrontation at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) seeking answers as to why he was frustrating his countrywide tours.
However, it is just a matter of time before the real faces behind the whole scheme emerge from their political cocoons.
