According to a post in the Uasin Gishu County Forum Facebook group, the fundraiser was set to be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

The craftsman, Samson Charles, weaves his baskets by the roadside just next to St Luke's Hospital in Eldoret town.

Charles noted that he has no business premise to operate from, and he is sometimes forced to grapple with harsh weather conditions.

He urged the Uasin Gishu County government to assist him by relocating him to an area where he can run the business with ease.

"I urge the Uasin Gishu government to relocate me to a better place within the town. There is no reasonable market here," he said.

The Facebook post in which blogger Lord Kimutai was tagged elicited mixed reactions, with some of the residents arguing that Charles doesn't require fundraising since he already has a job.

Others argued that the money should be given directly to Charles, as those calling for the fundraiser could be out to exploit him.

Here are some of the reactions.
