A group of Members of Parliament allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga has told Deputy President William Ruto to cease fighting the president while lying low behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
In a press conference which was convened on Monday at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi, the MPs led by Junet Mohammed upheld that DP Ruto has affirmed battling President Uhuru operating with the BBI and Raila's name as his fatalities.
"The remarks by the DP are an affront to the President who is the head of state and government. Hiding behind BBI and Raila is open camouflage," said Junet who read a joint statement, according to the Star.
"It is clear the DP is hiding behind Raila and the BBI to fight the President and those public officers the President has entrusted with the power of helping him run the government," he added.
The MPs are from Jubilee, ODM and Wiper party.
Among other leaders present were Ben Momanyi, Maina Kamanda, Benard Okoth, TJ Kajwang', Antony Oluoch, George Aladwa, Tim Wanyonyi, Simba Arati, Sabina Chege and Opondo Kaluma.
Deputy President William Ruto was initially opposed to the handshake and on Sunday claimed that ODM was using the BBI to cause divisions within the ruling Jubilee party.
