"Mombasa County Traffic Happy Hour
Kindly note in the sole interest of decongestion of the outbound traffic from CBD to Nyali at the peak evening hours, kindly comply and obey the County Traffic Officers who are trying their utmost best in the circumstances to make sure you reach home early and safely.
This is a pilot project and if successful will be replicated in other traffic prone areas. The NPS Traffic Regional Officer Mr. Waqo and the MCG Director of Traffic Mr. Ibrahim are working together for the best solution on the ground.
1. When the Happy Hour 5 Minute Session starts, the Traffic Unit closes the Nyali inbound traffic so that the Motorists use the incoming lane to Nyali. Do not drive slow looking around, make sure you maintain a short safe distance with the MV ahead to reduce time to clear, as you delay all behind you. Drive at constant safe speed.
2. Fayaz junction to CGH junction. Try to maintain 3 lanes to pack as many MVs to clear. Be courteous and give way. Use the far left and right white paint lines so as to create a safe third lane in the middle.
3. Of the lanes to Nyali, all 6 lanes can go during Happy Hour, so select your lane (far left) earlier should you want to go to Saba Saba from CGH. Don't use the mid sections to jump over.
4. All PSVs to Nyali to use the left lanes for easy pick and drop of passengers but not blocking rear traffic. Motorbikes and bicycles to use also left lanes. Pedestrians to use the foot bridges at all times.
Follow the sign boards and traffic laws as no one except emergency vehicles are above the law.
Lets all Mombasa County citizens work together towards a successful traffic system."
