On November 10, Hivisasa published a story from Uasin Gishu highlighting the increasing cases of insecurity in the Langas area.

According to the story, insecurity cases were high in the area due to unemployment among the youth. The insecurity cases entailed break-ins into residents' houses alongside mugging.

The story was covered by Hivisasa writer Elvanis Rono who is based in Uasin Gishu County. The writer heard about the case from his sources on the ground.

Rono managed to visit the area, where he interviewed the locals and victims of crime in Langas informal settlement.

After publishing the story, the writer managed to secure an interview with the county commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa who commented on the insecurity following the Hivisasa story.

The county commissioner released the government's plan to tackle insecurity in the areas. Jaldesa pointed out that the number of police patrolling the area had been increased to counter the insecurity threat.

The commissioner further noted that there are plans to revive the Nyumba Kumi initiative as a means of weeding out criminal elements in the area.
