As the wave of senseless murders involving college/university girls continue to hit the headlines by day, Igembe Central MP, Kubai Kiringo has sought to offer some valuable advice to the youngsters whom in most cases have been the victims.
Speaking on Wednesday during the burial of Ann Kanario, the slain third-year KeMU student, Kiringo warned college girls that love dynamics have changed and many romantic relationships nowadays are being built on the basis of give-and-take.
"To our young ladies, please I want you to know that the world has changed. When you are given something by a man and you gladly accept it, be sure you will pay for it. Get that one clearly," Kiringo said as reported by NTV.
He added: "If he offers you something and you know that you are not ready to pay for it, just say 'No'. If your parents can only afford to give you a banana and he comes offering you pizza, tell him to keep his pizza you will eat your mother's banana."
As for the men perpetrating these crimes of passion, the elderly MP beseeched them to learn to accept and move on once they are told 'No'.
"Young men, the reality of life is that you encounter with so many women but you only end up marrying one. But you do not kill all the other ones to end up with one. You leave them behind and move on. Try and understand that when you are told 'No', it exactly means that. Accept it! Period," he said.
Kanario's rotting body was found in a rented apartment early last week after she was allegedly stabbed severally by her lover who also committed suicide after the heinous act.
Femicide cases as a result of love-gone-sour have increased recently with the majority of the victims being college and university girls in 'sponsor' relationships.
The entire society, many relationship experts have argued, is widely to blame for 'glorifying' and 'encouraging' such relationships, but cry foul when repercussions strike.
