The students engaged the police officers in running battles across the university as teargas canisters were thrown towards them.

The netizens condemned the police officers for using live bullets instead of rubber bullets.

They termed the move by the officers as illegal and called for intervention from the necessary authorities.

According to the netizens, the officers had prioritized usage of live bullets which was contrary to the law governing demonstrations.

A group of the netizens blamed the escalated demonstrations on police officers and argued that the demonstrations were meant to be peaceful but the presence of police officers and usage of force made the students retaliate.

The university administration which has so far announced indefinite closure of the Kesses-based institution admitted that there was extreme violence during the demonstrations.

They also reported through a memo that some of the university staff had been injured.
