Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa once again warmly welcomed Deputy President William Ruto to her constituency, despite a show-cause letter from her ODM party's Disciplinary Committee.

In a letter dated September 19, the committee chairman Fred Athuok, said Jumwa, her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori and 10 other lawmakers from Nakuru, Homa Bay and Nyamira counties have also been summoned and should appear before it on October 10.

“The party disciplinary mechanisms will soon kick in and we will inform the public in due time on our next cause of action,” said Athuok.

Jumwa and Dori who publicly declared support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, were asked to show-cause why they should not be disciplined for going against the party regulations.

However, the defiant former Kilifi County Woman Representative hosted Jubilee Party's deputy leader, Ruto to the official ground breaking of Shomani Girls High School.

"The school will provide a new and existing opportunities for our girls and provide additional employment opportunities for teachers, administrators and support staff," she said on Friday.

Jumwa indicated the construction of the school was a dream come true to residents of Malindi.

"I will stand firm in the education sector to see our children and youth equipped with high quality education to make them productive and competitive at national, regional and international platforms," added the lawmaker who seeks to succeed Governor Amason Kingi in 2022 elections.

Earlier Friday, she accompanied Ruto in Langobaya to commission the Sh2.3 billion Baricho Bridge.

The completion of the 220m-long Baricho Bridge and 12km approach roads will link Malindi and Magarini constituencies. 

She said it will spur economic activity in the area, ease transportation of goods, people and services and improve access to markets, schools and hospitals.

"The completion of the Sh2.3bn 220m-long Baricho Bridge and 12km government-funded project is part of the national infrastructure programme," said Ruto.

Other Raila Odinga-led ODM MPs who were present include: Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haina, her Kilifi counterpart Getrude Mbeyu, Suleiman Dori, Magarini MP Michael Kingi.
