The year 2019 was not different either, a couple of phrases were coined and were incorporated in day to day communication. 

These are some of the phrases that took 2019 by storm: 

1.Vitu kwa ground ni different 

This can loosely be translated as "things, in reality, tends to be different from what they sound to be". This phrase is used to castigate the real situation on the 'ground' compared to what many seems to think it is in a comical way.

2.Bora uhai 

This phrase seems to give hope during hard and tempting situations, where there is life there is opportunities. 

'Bora uhai' can be loosely translated as "of importance is life" and the rest is vanities. 

3. Parte after parte

Ugandan Big Tril's breakthrough song "parte after parte" become more popular in Kenya among party-goers. Kenyans are known to have an insatiable love for parties, especially during long holidays.

4. Wajinga nyinyi 

King Kaka's controversial song where he insults Kenyans with basic hard truths is the latest trending phrase in town. This phrase sensitizes Kenyans on rots present in the society. 

5. Mum tuma fare (Mother send me fare)

A video of Kenyatta University student went viral after the chaos had erupted at the university. The student was seen requesting his mother to send fare. These left netizens breaking into laughter and the phrase became common among social media platforms.
