A Kenyatta University student on Monday lit up the internet after a video of him asking his mother to send him fare went viral.
The male student was taking a video of himself during protests outside the campus when police began dispersing the students who were taking part in the demonstrations.
In the video, the student can be heard asking his mother to send him fare before he starts sprinting as police engaged them in running battles.
Taking to Twitter under the hashtag #KenyattaUniversity, Kenyans expressed mixed reactions towards the viral video.
A section of the netizens found it humorous with some going ahead to make funny comments and creating memes out of the video. Some netizens were impressed at the speed at which the student ran with some sarcastically suggesting that he should consider taking up athletics as a career.
Another group of the online users were however touched at how much the student valued his mother. They opined that the student must share a strong bond with his mother as she is the first person he thought about when he was caught up in the chaos.
The students held the Monday demos to protest against the graduation fee increment and being forced to use the flyover at the institution among other things.
