One of Kenya’s top comedian Kendrick Mulamwah has taken to Instagram to mourn the death of John Gift who was a fourth-year student at the University of Eldoret.
Mulamwah who is known for his stand-up comedy on Churchill show had brushed shoulders with the student before his untimely death.
“Life can be cruel at times 😭. Comedian JOHN GIFT (@John_gift_kenya ) is dead. The cause of death is not yet clear but he was in ICU before being pronounced dead early today,” part of Mulamwah’s post on Instagram read.
He went ahead to narrate his last interaction with the deceased.
“I acted with him my last video clip last Thursday 30th May and he was ok . RIP BROTHER . Shine on .more information concerning his sudden death will be communicated. It’s a big blow to the comedy industry, he was such a creative mind. Rip Johnny,” he further stated in his post.
John Gift was a fast-rising online comedian who performed his comedy in the vernacular language specifically ‘Bukusu’.
He died while receiving treatment after being involved in a road accident. Kenyans including Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula took to social media to offer their condolence.
