TSC  CEO Nancy Macharia said that private studies during school hours are strictly prohibited as it is contrary to the prevailing regulations, and must stop with immediate effect.

"In this regard and pursuant to the provisions of Regulation 17 of Code of Regulations for Teachers and Clause 11 of the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Teachers, the guild line to be strictly observed by teachers who are pursuing studies on school-based programme hence undertaking private assignments using institutional materials and resources is strictly prohibited," she said in a statement,

TSC lamented that teachers in private studies are absconding their normal duties as teachers so that they can focus and concentrate on their studies.

The act by teachers is making public schools perform poorly in national examinations because they are working with a divided devotion.

According to the statement from the TSC CEO, Ms. Nancy, teachers who will be found going against the new guidelines will face serious disciplinary actions, including demotion and dismissal.

School administrators have been instructed to report to TSC any teacher that will be found breaching the guidelines.
