It is a very rare occurrence to see Members of Parliament (MPs) engaging in public fist fights.
Here are three legislators who been involved in public fights.
1. Rashid Amin
The Wajir East MP is the latest legislator to have been accused of assault, allegedly getting physical with a female colleague at Parliament buildings. The MP is reported to have assaulted Wajir Woman Representative Ms Fatuma Gedi after a nasty exchange of words. He was charged with assault at the Milimani Law Courts and later released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 after denying the charges.
2. David Gikaria
Barely a month ago, Nakuru Town East legislator David Gikaria is said to have assaulted a deputy police commander over the construction of a bodaboda shade on private land at Pipeline area within his constituency. The MP has since apologised over the incident.
3. Farah Maalim
Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim three years ago engaged in a fist fight with powerful ex-Somali Telecommunications Minister Mohamed Mursa. The incident occurred at Serena Hotel in Nairobi. In a CCTV footage that went viral in 2016, the duo is seen being separated by customers and a number of security personnel attached to the hotel.
