ODM director of communications Philip Etale has come to the defence of his party leader Raila Odinga's utterances that likened Kambas faithfulness to that of women.
In a tweet, Etale said that the ODM leader's assertions when he met members from Ukambani living in Kibra were in good faith and therefore, no one should take offence over them.
He noted that the former Prime Minister was alluding to the Kambas' nature of choosing and firmly sticking to a political resolution undistracted.
"I see nothing wrong with Hon. Raila Odinga's remark on Saturday when he met members of the Akamba community. He simply was praising Kamba people for their faithfulness and sincerity...," Etale tweeted.
On Saturday, the ODM leader held a meeting with residents from Ukambani living in Kibra constituency in a bid to drum up support for his party candidate Benard Imran Okoth who will be contesting in a by-election that would be held on Thursday.
It was during the meeting when Raila showered accolades to the community for their collective faithfulness in making and adhering to their political initiatives in unison.
The statement elicited some mixed reactions from some leaders and members of the public who interpreted it differently.
Case in point was the former Machakos county gubernatorial hopeful Wavinya Ndeti who condemned Raila's remarks by claiming that the community could not be taken advantage of because of their simplicity and had to be respected.
