Egerton University is the latest university in the country whose normal operations have been brought to a standstill by riots and demonstrations by its students.
In a video clip shared on Twitter by Lincoln Njogu on Wednesday, the students at the Nakuru based institution engaged police in running battles within the institution a clear indication that learning had been disrupted.
Earlier on, Egerton University Students Association (EASU) through a memo dated Tuesday 3rd December had asked the students to assemble on Wednesday for a meeting.
According to the students' council, efforts to engage the University's administration in raising their concerns had proved futile and that is what had led to the demonstrations.
"Following a series of unsuccessful meetings, negotiations and pleadings for ; 1 Reopening of the portal, 2.Deferment of exam cards system, 3 Mandatory deferment of students on the basis of none finance registration," reads part of the memo by EASU.
