The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion, has asked the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to administer special exams for all candidates who give birth during the national exams period.
This is after the 2018 KCPE which kicked off on Tuesday, October 30, recorded many cases of candidates giving birth across the country.
In Mombasa County, one of the KCPE candidates sat for the exam at Likoni's Mrima Hospital after experiencing labour pains on Wednesday. She gave birth successfully.
In the neighbouring Kwale County, a second candidate gave birth on Wednesday.
The first candidate had delivered on Tuesday morning at Kwale Hospital.

According to Sossion, a Nominated MP, candidates who experience labour pain should do exams when they feel better, hence need for special exams.
This comes after two female candidates from Kaembeni primary school failed to sit for their KCPE exams on Tuesday in Magarini, Kilifi County after getting married.
Confirming the incident, Magarini Deputy County Commissioner Simon Lokorio said: "The girls could not be traced in their homes. Residents claimed the two girls got married in the nearby villages."
At Kwale Maximum Prison, three inmates are among candidates sitting for this year's KCPE.
