In early December 2019, Hivisasa highlighted a story from Migosi, Kisumu county regarding the poor state of roads.
The road running from Ezra Gumbe Primary School, to Mamboleo showground, was in a poor state to a point of almost crippling business ion the area. The road serves most of the Migosi area.
With heavy rains pounding Kisumu, the road had become impassable. The story was covered by Hivisasa writer Oliver Peter who is based in Kisumu.
Oliver managed to cover the story after receiving a tip from local informants. He visited the area where he managed to talk to resident representatives. who expressed their dissatisfaction with local authorities.
It was noted that the road which is classified under informal settlements had not been rehabilitated for a long time.
After Oliver published the story, he secured an interview with the area MCA Victor Rodgers Ochieng. During the interview, Ochieng thanked the writer for spotlighting the issue.
The MCA noted that the road had been earmarked for rehabilitation under the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP).
Following the pledge by the MCA, the writer kept tabs with him regarding the repair of the road.
A month later, through a local contractor, the road was rehabilitated where the potholes were filled while the drainage was fixed.
