"The recommendation for expulsion of the two elected leaders on trumped up charges which border on discrimination is draconian and unacceptable in modern day democratic Kenya."

She cited cases where leaders from Nyanza and other parts of the country were allegedly publicly defying party positions and even party leader and supporting other candidates other than ODM candidates.

"We have had ODM MPs speaking out loudly that if President Kenyatta were to run again they would vote for him. No action has been taken against them."

Jumwa dragged a potential ODM 2022 presidential candidate from the neighbouring county (in what seemed to be Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho) into the tribulations facing her and Dori, saying he sees any attempt to introduce another candidate in the Coast who is also vying for presidency as a slap in his face.

"We are aware the push to have Hon. Aisha Jumwa and Hon. Suleiman Dori kicked out of the party is being crafted and pushed and pursued by a leader in a neighboring County who has declared interest in the presidency and sees any attempt to introduce another candidate in the Coast who is also vying for presidency as a slap in his face," she said on Thursday.

Joho who is from the minority Swahili community of Mombasa, seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta through an ODM party ticket.

The flamboyant wealthy Joho is seen as Ruto's closest rival due to his popularity and ability to move crowds.

His Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi from the populous Mijikenda community, also wants the presidency come 2022.

She said the wealthy politician is using his immense wealth to influence decisions at ODM and push the Mijikenda community to the corner to support his presidential ambitions.

Jumwa who is accused of disrespecting ODM by declaring support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, said Mijikenda as a community will speak fearlessly and without apology to sons of former slave masters on their political future.

"If any one wants the votes of the Mijikenda he will not box them and push them to a corner because of his immense wealth and how he is using that wealth to influence decisions at ODM," warned the former Kilifi woman representative.

Jumwa warned that ODM needs to come out clearly and clarify that it stands for the majority of the Coast people and not just a few monied wannabe presidential candidates at the Coast.

In a statement, Jumwa clarified that the Mijikenda community will not be taken for a ride this time round.

She warned that "if ODM thinks they can torment local Mijikenda leaders at the behest of a few, then ODM years are numbered at the Coast especially among the Mijikenda."

Following the proposed expulsion, Dori met party leader Raila Odinga accompanied by several Coastal leaders.
