The officials noted that students were at risk of contracting diseases such as Cholera.  Following the closure, the 500 pupils were forced to stay at home with no hope of resuming learning any time soon.

The story was covered by Dennis Chacha, a Hivisasa writer based in Kisii County. The writer covered the story after getting a tip from a local source.

The writer visited the institution where he interviewed the school headteacher Albert Nyamete. The story was exclusively published on Hivisasa where Nyamete stated that the school had not received funding from the Constituency Development Fund.

He, therefore, used the Hivisasa platform to appeal to well-wishers to help the pupils resume normal learning.

After publishing the story, it was shared on various platforms. The story caught the attention of Eng Robert Pavel Oimeke, who is the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority Director-General.

Oimeke donated Sh50, 000 for the construction of the toilets. Construction of the toilets began immediately with Oimeke inspecting the progress. Hivisasa was also there to cover the construction process

Health officials from the Kisii county paid the school a visit on 26th June 2019 and were impressed with efforts to set up toilets. The institution was then issued with a letter confirming the reopening.  By press time, the school was in session with normal operations ongoing.
